GENERAL INSTRUCTION :

Identifying Skin types is a very important step to determine the optimum result in the treatment you recommend to your client. Therefore, special care has to be taken to ensure the skin analysis is carried out professionally, as the wrong analysis will result in your treatment a failure. It is important to complete the skin analysis record. Use the suitable skin analysis equipment and follow the procedure and techniques as demonstrated.

TOOLS, EQUIPMENTS, MATERIALS :

a.       Procedure and techniques manuals

b.      Mediums for manual lymph drainage

c.       Couch

d.      Trolley

e.      Towels

f.        Soothing music

01.Handle skin analysis equipment and tools

a.       Demonstrate how to handle the magnifying lamp :

-          Check condition of magnifying lamp

-          Sterilize magnifying lamp

-          Plug the magnifying lamp to the main

-          Press “on” to check its function

Put magnifying lamp to one side of the couch


02.Recognize skin type and conditions

a.       Demonstrate how to check to recognize skin conditions and types using student as model :

-          Use protected hand and check for contra-indications

Record findings


03.Follow procedure and technique of skin analysis

a.       Skin analysis procedure :

-          Ensure client skin is cleansed first

-          Cover client’s eyes with eye pads

-          Use a skin analysis record

-          Pull the magnifying lamp towards the client face (for client who is lying down on the facial couch; if client is sitting up, use skin scanner)

-          Look through the magnifying lamp and check the skin for its type and conditions

-          Explain to the client the skin condition

Record all conditions and types of skin spotted during the skin analysis into the skin analysis record

04.Complete skin analysis record

a.       Complete the client’s skin analysis record :

-          Check to see if client’s name, address, contact number, date of birth, medical history, skin conditions, skin type are recorded

Check products advised and treatment plan recommended are recorded
